Subtracting 3-Digit Numbers Using Explain Everything!

Subtracting 3-digit numbers with regrouping
has been challenging for my froglets...so...
I got out the trusty

and created a little demo video for
math stations this week and homework review.

I also created a review worksheet to help practice some
of the regrouping problems that were causing us frustration
this week...always helps to practice!

Download a copy HERE
I created a QR code to go with the
Explain Everything video so that the kids
can scan the code and watch the video to
remind them about regrouping as well...

Flip the Learning with EDpuzzle!

I think I've said it before, but I have to say it again...
I LOVE using technology with my students!
EDpuzzle gives me the ability to take a video and
make it interactive with questions, comments, and audio clips!
Students create a free account to log in and complete
assigned videos! You (as the teacher) can see who's
watched the videos and how they've answered the interactive questions!

You can search several video databases...including YouTube :)
You have the ability to clip the video to just the part or parts you need!
My kiddos get to go to computer lab every Tuesday!
So I'll be excited to see how they do at interacting with a couple of videos
I've been working on this weekend!
Here's one of the videos on telling time...

and here's one I created using my own screencast video
for solving Math Word Problems...

You can even have your students make a video interactive to share with the class...
Like this one from one of my froggies that LOVES
The Electric Company and wanted to share how she learned to use
quotation marks in her blog posts...
(and YES...I teach SECOND grade!)...with some amazing kiddos!
She put this together in less than 15 minutes! AT SCHOOL!

Can't wait to see the kids results as they interact with some
Flipped Learning!
Fingers are crossed that it will help my frogglets that
are having a hard time with these concepts turn on a light!

Do you use EDpuzzle?
Want to share videos?

PS...EDpuzzle works on the iPads as well...it's a free app!

Summer Conferences...Are You Going?

Have you ever heard of Whole Brain Teaching?

I've used "parts and pieces" of it successfully over the last 4 years.
My FAVORITE part is
the simplicity of the classroom rules...
not to mention the
Class-yes...

But I've only ever caught pieces and parts from youtube videos and blogger posts...
so when a friend called to say that the
K-12 National Convention
was open for registration, I signed up "pronto-burger"
Sooooo extremely excited to be able to go see
this engaging way of teaching in action!

If you're not familiar with Whole Brain Teaching,
You can see more about the concept by watching this youtube video...

There's also a Twitter Chat on Tuesdays... Just search for the hashtag
 #WBTchat
starting at  6 PM Pacific, 7 PM Mountain, 8 PM Central, 9 PM Eastern

And I think the Book Study for this Summer Series will be:

I'll blog about more info on when the study will start and how you
can follow along if you're interested.
You might want to check out some of the info from
previous summer book studies to see all the great
info that is shared during an online book study... HERE.
Or by clicking on the Summer Book Studies page tab above.

I'd love to know more about how you use
this wonderful strategy in your room!
