Ticks Tacks Toes Give Away

Wanted to say Thanks to all those who share and follow along with the Swamp I'd give away a new favorite game in my classroom from Educational Insights...
This querky little game puts a fun twist on the original game of
Tic Tac Toe...
it's called...

Players take turns placing plastic  ticks, tacks and toes on the board.. trying to get tic-tac-toe strings of three-in-a-row to earn tokens....opponents can score off players' moves to earn tokens too.  The player with the most tokens at the end of station time, wins the game...but the fun is in the playing and the learning of strategic moves...I

I created some of our word study skills cards to go with this game.  Students had to choose a card and read the word.  Then they had to use the word in a sentence BEFORE they could place a tick, tack, or toe on the gameboard...They really got into the strategy part of the game thinking not only of ways to create sentences with the words they were practicing, but also thinking about how they could best earn a token while putting down a piece on the board...

I have a wonderful parent volunteer that comes into my class every Wednesday and helps the kids learn new twists on old games..They LOVE working with him and learning how to think more strategically and become better problem solving!
His one thought about the game was that you might need to make more tokens for the tic-tac-toe as the kids became pretty adept at finding them as the game progressed.

You can use any cards that have words from your units or study skills to play this funky little version of Tic Tac Toe...or you could just have the kids use it for problem solving development...
You could do with a small group, a whole group, or just 2 players...any way you play, you're getting double your playtime with kids reading and thinking!
You could even use math fact practice cards and have students solve math problems before adding a piece to the board!

Educational Insights is allowing me a "Give Away" for one of the Ticks Tacks Toes Game units.

If you'd like to enter the give away...sign up using the rafflecopter below...

Enjoy and good luck!
