Mitten and Hat Number Sentence Sort

Here's a game I developed to go with The Mitten and The Hat both by Jan Brett.
Copy on cardstock.  Laminate.  Cut out.
Have kids sequence the hats in numerical order.  You could have them go from least to greatest or greatest to least.  Then have them sort the number sentences under the hat that is the sum or difference.

  1. Wow! What an amazing resource. Thank you for creating this and for making the time to share. These are adorable. I will be using them after the break. Cute, cute, cute.

  2. Glad you like them.. I'm trying to think of how I can incorporate the idea using different stories...if you think of any, let me know...

  3. I took the blackline pictures that I found for the clothing in The Hat and enlarged each of them to an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper. I laminated them and put them in a center with sentence strips that have the name of the item of clothing with the picture laminated as well. The kids take one of the pieces of laminated paper, put another piece of paper over it and trace. Now they have made their own color sheet! They also write what it is. This is a center I have all year with different pictures to go with the unit.

  4. sounds fabulous!
    Thanks for sharing!
